21 Days Of Unlimited Yoga For Just $39*
*for new students
We all crossed this threshold at one time and our experienced teachers are here to answer any questions, calm any fears and support you on your journey to health. Our schedule offers over 50 classes each week for all levels of students. The first step in any transformational experience is acceptance and surrender to the present moment. Come with an open mind, and your body will follow suit and open naturally. From that place, we have awareness, humility and the power to change.
Showing up is 99% of the battle.
Wear what you are comfortable sweating, stretching and bending in. It is nice to see the lines of your body so you can begin to identify when you are in alignment and when you are not.
If you have had health problems, check in with your doctor to make sure you feel supported by your healthcare practitioner. Also, check in with your teacher at the beginning of class. One of the beauties of yoga is you can do as much or as little as you feel you need on any given day. The ability to let go of judgement of self and others is a quality that aids in the overall enjoyment of life!!
Class Etiquette 101
Stay in the room
Stay in the room from start to finish, beginning breath to your final savasana. You can always rest quietly in child’s pose.
Drink Up
Consume plenty of water before, during and after a hot class. If you are prone to feeling light headed, add a coconut water to the mix. Be sure to eat - JUST NOT RIGHT BEFORE CLASS. Trust us. <3
Personal Belongings
Are they clean and fresh? Mist your mat with our cleaning spray and wash your towel after every use. Oh! And how about your yoga duds? Give ‘em a sniff. Fresh clothes. Fresh practice. Fresh outlook.
Cell phones
Cell phones are NOT allowed in the yoga room. You may leave them with your stuff or in your car. DO NOT USE CELL PHONES IN THE LOCKER ROOM.
Be on Time
Class begins on time, our front door will be locked at the scheduled start time. We suggest arriving at least 10 minutes early (15 if it is your first visit)!
R E L A X
Let this space be quiet and sacred for you and those around you. Enter and leave quietly. Turn off your phone and leave it in the locker room. Save conversations for outside the yoga room.
Locker Rooms
We are happy to provide showers and locker room facilities for your use. They are available after class for the 30 minutes between classes. When the next class begins we lock the door for the safety and protection of all of our students.
For Reals...
Does your towel truly cover the length of your mat? It would be a real shame to hate triangle because you were slipping on a tiny towel.
Where to Park
Iowa City - absolutely not at Starbucks, you will be towed! Your first hour of parking is free in the ramps downtown - check it out.
Coralville - Right outside our door, free parking.
FAQ
+ WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I NEED TO KNOW?
Walking through the door is often times the most challenging step. Perhaps you have been wanting to try hot yoga for awhile and keep putting it off, you’re not alone! Plan to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early for your first class. Acclimate yourself to the space and ask any questions. Let the teacher know of any preexisting conditions before the class begins.
+ WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
You will need a yoga mat (which we have available for rent or purchase) a large towel and water. Please leave your valuables at home. Wear comfortable clothing so that you can sweat and move with ease! Click here to create a profile before your first class.
+ WHERE SHOULD I PARK?
Iowa City location: A parking garage is located right across the street from our studio. The first hour is free and each additional hour is just $1.
Coralville location: There is free parking right outside our door!
+ I AM NOT FLEXIBLE. CAN I DO YOGA?
You are the perfect candidate for a regular yoga practice. It is a common misconception that you need to be flexible to begin, almost like thinking you need to be able to play the piano to take piano lessons. Come as you are and you will find that yoga practice will make you become more flexible physically and mentally.
+ HOW OFTEN SHOULD I PRACTICE?
Begin with 3 to 4 times per week, minimum. Like any practice, the more time you spend in the activity, the more comfortable and familiar you become. You will be surprised at how you begin to look forward to the practice. It is that life-changing! Yoga will put a little spring in your step, a joy you may not have felt for awhile!
+ IS YOGA CHALLENGING? WILL I GET A “WORKOUT”?
Yes, but remember, we are working on balance in every sense of the word. Yoga takes you to your edge and then finds space we never imagined!
+ TELL ME ABOUT THE HEAT.
It is the magic potion combined with breath and movement that deages, detoxifies, depuffs and deposits oxygen into the blood to wake up all the internal organs of the body creating overall health and vitality. The heat helps us burn fat more effectively by boosting metabolism and melting away water weight in sweat. The heat also:
- Dilates our capillaries to boost the oxygenation of all our cells, tissues, muscles, organs
- Boosts circulation and gets the heart rate up enhances our immune system very slightly elevating our body temperature increasing T-cell functioning
- Elevates the functioning of the central nervous system and decreases anxiety by relaxing the body
+ HOW IS YOGA DIFFERENT FROM OTHER FORMS OF FITNESS?
Yoga is more than physical postures It connects the body, mind and breath and helps direct our attention inward. We begin to recognize our habitual thought patterns and become more aware of everything that surrounds us and of the present moment and what is possible in that moment!
+ SHOULD I PRE-REGISTER ONLINE?
There is power in scheduling your yoga in advance. Pre-register to ensure your commitment to your practice. Though it is not required, it is encouraged.
+ DO YOU SELL BOTTLED WATER?
We do not encourage the use of plastic water bottles. Bring your own bottle and fill up at our filtered water stations. We do sell water bottles in case you forget yours.
